A Few Facts About Keystone Services and the Midway Community Food Shelf:
-Keystone Food Shelves distribute food to people who have jobs (as well as those who don't) but who can't afford to buy food after paying their bills
-Keystone Food Shelves serve many different cultures and have a need for culturally appropriate foods to serve the Latino, Hmong, Somali, and other immigrant communities.
-In 2008, Keystone served 45,168 individuals and distributed almost a million pounds of food at its three local food shelves (Midway, Roseville, and Rice Street).
-The increasing needs in our community are coming from new, first-time food shelf clients, often people who have never needed to use social services.
-Food shelf usage is estimated to be double the number of people served 10 years ago (1999)
-Hunger touches people of every age: 56% of food shelf visitors are families with children and 20% are seniors.
During our 2008 (2nd Annual ) food drive, you donated a total of
257 pounds of food and $80!!
This greatly exceeded the first food drive in 2007, which garnered 80 pounds of food and $50
Your kindness and generosity is appreciated and benefits many individuals and families in the Midway Community.
